Open the Flood Gates!
Before I delve into the release of book two in my Silent Warrior Series, first let me share a wonderful experience I was honored to have just a few weeks ago. Southwest Florida Romance Writers had their annual conference and was gracious enough to invite me to be their keynote speaker. They welcomed me with open arms and are a great group to connect with. So if you find yourself anywhere near Fort Myers and have an interest in writing then this group is a must. With top New York editors, on the money agents and great workshops given by hot authors Linnea Sinclair and Stacy Kade the conference was a success and inspiration. When first asked to speak, I wondered if I had anything worthwhile to share with everyone. I’m not a NYT bestseller, a great oratory, nor can I tell a joke without mangling it beyond recognition. But after searching deep I realized that my journey and struggles as a writer were all that I needed. And in the telling of that story, I found the answer to what has driven to write and keep on writing despite the many obstacles, disappointments, and the seemingly lack of stellar success over the years. First I realized that I had an unfailing hope in my heart to write and keep on writing. A hope that’s born from my love of story and from my belief that love is the greatest gift that can be given and received. Emily Dickinson’s verse eloquently describes it all.
“Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all..”
Great stories bring hope to the heart and with every story I write, I strive to deliver that to my reader. To give the hope of love. To give the hope that good conquers evil. To give the hope that there is light in the darkness, heroes in the battles, and healing to be found within the sharing of our hearts.
Stephen Trevelyan
Stephen Trevelyan as described by Juliet Boucheron.
I paused to take in the sweet smell of jasmine mingled with the mouthwatering aroma of Mama Lousia’s creamy red beans, andouille, and fresh bread. Mama Louisa’s cooking could warm the soul of a devil.
“Half light, half shade, She stood, a sight to make an old man young.”
“Mon Dieu!” Startled, I spun around to see who had spoken. A tall man stood beneath the shadows of a twisted live oak just behind me. The deep voice was unfamiliar, cultured, and sensual. I backed away several steps, chastising myself for being so lost in my thoughts that I’d been unaware of his presence.

Excerpt
You are in danger. Trust no one. The terrifying words from a mysterious letter echo in Juliet Bucheron’s mind. Destitute ever since her husband disappeared in the Civil War, Juliet has turned her New Orleans ancestral home into a boarding house–despite the rumors of ghosts, the whispers of scandal, and the stain of murder. But even more unsettling is Juliet’s new tenant, a handsome stranger named Stephen Trevelyan. Wealthy, educated, and seductively compelling, Stephen fills Juliet’s heart with uncontrollable longing–and her head with suspicion. Something, she senses, is lurking beneath the surface. And someone is stalking the hallways after midnight. As the danger draws nearer, Juliet wonders if she can really trust Stephen. But as he pulls her closer, she knows she cannot resist him…no matter what the price.
Less relaxed than normal, I donned my nightdress, robe and slippers, and as I left the bath, I searched the pockets of my dress for the telegram. They were empty except for Mr. Trevelyan’s card. My stomach sank when I dug into the pockets of my robe and found them empty, too.
